Nearly half of Taman Mutiara residents' municipal complaints resolved

KLANG, Oct 18 — Over 40 per cent of the complaints related to municipal issues by residents of Taman Mutiara in Bukit Raja have been successfully resolved by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) since August.

Kota Anggerik state assemblyman Najwan Halimi said the complaints are related to issues like drain maintenance, landscaping, illegal structures, abandoned vehicles, and non-functioning water pumps.

"The water pump, the main instrument for pumping water to drains and monsoon drains, previously did not work due to overgrown trees obstructing the pump's smooth functioning, so it was maintained to avoid flash floods in the area.

"This is a follow-up to see the work progress on residents' complaints last August, and we hope MPK will continue to aggressively resolve the issues that arise," he said following a field visit to the area yesterday.

In August, Taman Mutiara residents complained of garbage cleaning not being carried out properly, as well as the lack of maintenance on water irrigation.

Meanwhile, MPK deputy chairman Elya Marini Darmin said the council is carrying out an active concerted effort with other agencies in resolving the complaints, for the benefit of the residents and a more conducive environment.

"Some technical issues require further discussions with other agencies. We will work on that as soon as possible.

"This Wednesday (October 19), MPK will conduct another field visit to cut down and clean illegal trees planted by residents, to avoid any untoward incidents," she said.
