SHAH ALAM, Oct 3 — The state government is considering the continuation of its free health screening programme, in order to help Selangor residents detect the early onset of diseases.

According to Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari, the Selangor Saring initiative which began in May has benefitted up to 40,000 individuals, with a RM3.4 million allocation.

"The state government is pondering the continuation of Selangor Saring, so it can have an impact on the people.

"Selangor has prepared numerous forms of assistance to treat diseases, and feels it is now time to expand the initiative to cover the prevention of diseases," he said in a Facebook post.

Asides from physical screenings, Selangor Saring also offers blood and urine tests, eyes, breasts and cervical tests, as well as colorectal and prostate tests.

The initiative is aimed at those with a family history of hereditary ailments, obese individuals, or those leading unhealthy lifestyles.
