SHAH ALAM, Sept 28 – The Klang Disaster Management Committee has opened two temporary relief centers (PPS) this morning for flood victims who are affected by the high tide.
The victims were moved from Kampung Delek Baru to Sekolah Rendah Agama Kampung Delek and Kampung Sungai Sireh Tambahan to Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Sungai Sireh.
The committee had also advised those who are affected to contact the Village Community Management Council (MPKK) or directly head to the nearest PPS.
Meanwhile, the committee informed that sea level readings at two of five Klang stations were at dangerous levels as of 7.15am today.
“The readings at Tugu Keris station and Klang Town recorded dangerous levels. Everyone is advised to be prepared and remain vigilant of their surroundings,” he said in a Facebook post.
Yesterday, the Klang Disaster Operations Room was opened to the public in preparation for floods following the high tide phenomenon slated to last until tomorrow.
A poster shared on the Selangor State Secretariat Office’s Twitter yesterday stated that the sea level readings are expected to reach 5.3 metres (m) with the highest level at 5.4m on Wednesday.
Among the locations being monitored in Klang are Taman Selat Damai, Pandamaran, Taman Telok Gedung Indah, Port Klang and Pengkalan Nelayan Tok Muda Jetty.
Whereas the locations under scrutiny in Kuala Langat are Kelanang Beach, Baru Morib Beach, Morib Beach, Batu Laut Beach, Cunang Beach and Tanjung Sepat Jetty.
