SHAH ALAM, Sept 19 — For the past four years, the Selangor Special Needs Children (Anis) assistance programme has been a top priority for the state government, with a variety of programmes designed to improve the lives of children with special needs (OKU).

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that aid was provided through various financial and empowerment initiatives.

“Since 2018, Anis has empowered parents and guardians, educators, institutional operators and representatives from welfare organisations serving children with special needs in Selangor to help them become more self-sufficient and resilient in the face of the world’s challenges.

“Selangor is leading the way with an initiative to ensure the continued growth and success of special needs,” he wrote on Facebook yesterday.

In an infographic shared by the Menteri Besar, the state government has allocated RM3.36 million for Anis, which includes aid to 692 individuals and training of 2,700 participants under Anis Academy.

Whereas a total of 80 Didik Anis centres were assisted, 26 students were accepted into Anis centres, 1,200 individuals received disability aid and 14,006 people were recorded to have visited the Anis website.
