SHAH ALAM, Aug 12 — The return of the water supply to 397 areas in the Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat districts has now reached 99.5 per cent, said Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd.

It said the duration of the water supply recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the location and distance of consumers’ premises.

"Water supply in all affected areas are expected to fully recover by 8pm tonight," Air Selangor said in a statement.

At this time, only the areas of Bandar Sunway Semenyih and Bandar Teknologi Kajang in the Hulu Langat district have yet to regain their water supply.

It advised consumers who have already and will receive their water supply to let the tap flow until it is clear before using.

"We hope that consumers who have received water supply will use water prudently to ensure that the recovery process in the affected areas runs smoothly," Air Selangor said.

Yesterday, 397 areas in three Air Selangor regions, namely Petaling (3 areas), Kuala Lumpur (172 areas) and Hulu Langat (222 areas), were hit by an unscheduled water cut following the temporary shutdown of the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant.

The temporary closure was due to a pollution incident due to an oil spillage at Sungai Semantan in Karak, Pahang, caused by an accident along the KM75.9 Karak - Bentong Highway heading towards Kuala Lumpur.
