Saudi Arabia declares Friday July 8 as Day of Arafah, Aidiladha the following day

JEDDAH, June 30 — Saudi Arabia's Supreme Court announced that the Day of Arafah, the day Haj pilgrims make their way to Mount of Arafah, shall be on Friday, July 8 and Aidiladha shall be celebrated on the following day (Saturday, July 9).

Saudi Press Agency reported quoting the statement of the Supreme Court that the announcement was made after the crescent moon of Zulhijjah was sighted in Tamir, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday evening.

The Supreme Court also announced that Thursday will be the first day of Zulhijjah, according to the Umm al-Qura calendar, corresponding to June 30, 2022.

This year it is estimated that one million pilgrims from all over the world will be at Mount of Arafah, including 14,306 from Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Muslims in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand will celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha on July 10, 2022.
