SHAH ALAM, June 18 — A fertiliser factory in Bagan Tengkorak, Tanjung Karang has been ordered to close immediately for operating without a license.

Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS) president Rahilah Rahmat said the premise owner was also compounded during a joint operation by 15 council enforcers together with the Selangor Department of Environment (DOE) and Kuala Selangor police, on June 14.

“This operation was carried out following complaints from the public about a foul smell coming from the factory which processes chicken waste into agricultural fertiliser.

“The factory was ordered to close and compounded because it does not have a license. Two units of forklifts and a unit of air compressor were also seized,” she said in a statement.

She said the case was being investigated in accordance with By-Laws 3 of the Trade, Business and Industry By-Laws (MPKS) 2007.

According to her, further investigation revealed the factory has been operating for seven months in the area.

"Besides that, the factory operators also failed to maintain a clean environment that resulted in a foul smell," she said.
