SUBANG JAYA, June 3 — The Selangor Saring free health screening programme, which had kicked off on May 22, has continued to receive a good response, says Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.

The state executive councillor for public health said that both the registrations for the initiative through the SELangkah app and the number of participants had grown since.

“For example, we had allocated 1,000 slots for cervical cancer screening. But in the past two weeks, almost 80 per cent of the slots have been booked.

“We may have to allocate more slots so that more people can benefit from the initiative. Health awareness is increasing, and we will continue to spread the awareness of this initiative,” she said when met after launching the Mekar Kasih Ibu Tunggal Selangor 2022 programme here, yesterday.

The Selangor government allocated RM3.4 million for the Selangor Saring initiative, a free health screening programme that aims to reach 39,000 people, particularly those in high-risk groups.

The programme, which ends on September 4, includes physical examinations, screenings of four types of cancers (colorectal, prostate, cervical and breasts) and blood and urine tests.

The iniative will be held at Dewan Kelab Ko Cho, Hulu Bernam, on Saturday (June 4) and Dewan Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Yoke Kuan, Sekinchan, on Sunday (June 5).
