SHAH ALAM, May 28 — A total of 2,716 applications for Anak Istimewa Selangor (AnIS) special assistance have been received so far, says state executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.

She said the response was very encouraging even though registration for application was only opened on May 17.

“Applications are still open until May 31. Priority will be given to those who have never received assistance or have more than one child with disabilities (OKU), in addition to their (family/financial) background.

"Since many had applied, Insya Allah (God willing) we will ask for more (allocation) in the future to enable more people to receive benefits from this programme," she said.

She said this when met after officiating the Women's Leadership Academy (AKW) Alumni Gathering and Networking Programme at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) here today.

Registration for the application can be made online at www.anisselangor.com and will be open until May 31.

Assistance is provided on a one-off basis with a maximum limit of up to RM5,000 per family and is open to special children aged 18 and under.

The main objective of the assistance is to alleviate the cost of therapy, rehabilitation, education and living expenses (supplements/medicines) for children with disabilities (OKU) borne by parents or guardians.
