SHAH ALAM, May 2 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has wished all Muslims in the state a festive and joyous Hari Raya Aidilfitri and gently admonished them to be mindful of the needy and underprivileged.

"The past Ramadan brought a thousand and one meanings to the faithful Muslims. Each sought Lailatul Qadr and carried out various forms of charity in the pursuit of Mardhatillah.

"For those celebrating victory marked with a return to fitrah, which is the true meaning of Aidilfitri, let us all continue to do the good works as done in the last glorious month, for the benefit of the poor, the orphans and the less fortunate," he said in his Aidilfitri address.

Amirudin also reminded Muslims to not continue culture of wastage from Ramadan bazaars until food is wasted during Aidilfitri open houses.

"Surely many are breathing sighs of relief after two years of celebrating in the Movement Control Order, whereas this time all can be together with friends and family. Alhamdulillah Selangor is so far under control.

"The merriment of Aidilfitri this time can be felt, especially with the permission for interstate travel which has been longed for these past two years. Utilise it to forge bonds of fellowship and tighten ukhuwwah as commanded by the faith," he said.

The Menteri Besar hoped the public will continue to be vigilant and follow the protocols set by the authorities, in their enthusiasm to celebrate Syawal.

"I sincerely apologise for any of my shortcomings and remain determined in providing the best service for all. Selamat Hari Raya. Taqaballallahu minna wa minkum," he said.
