PKNS distributes RM60,000 in zakat to 10 orphanages

SHAH ALAM, April 15 — The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) distributed business zakat amounting to RM60,000 to 10 orphanages in the state in conjunction with its Ramadan Iftar (breaking of fast) ceremony here yesterday.

PKNS chief executive officer, Datuk Mahmud Abbas said the contributions to the orphanages under the supervision of Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan (YIDE) were part of PKNS’ social corporate responsibility (CSR) efforts in caring for the needy group especially orphans.

“This is our tradition in PKNS since 2014 whereby we will distribute contributions to various quarters such as old folks’ homes, Quran recitation schools and surau in Selangor.

“Every selected orphanage will receive RM6,000 this year,” he told reporters after an iftar ceremony at the Shah Alam Convention Centre here.

The recipients of the zakat were Al-Munirah Orphan Welfare Home, Raudhatul Jannah Charity House, Sekendi Orphans Welfare Hostel, Rahoma Darul Fakir Malaysia Organisation and Selangor Orphans Education Organisation.

In addition, Ehsan Ash-Shakur Welfare Organisation, Sabak Bernama Muslim Orphans and Poor Brotherhood Welfare Organisation, Kasih Yayasan Basmi Kemiskinan Hostel Care Centre, Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Charity House Organisation, Aman House (Shah Alam) and Al- Munirah Orphan Welfare House.
