SHAH ALAM, April 3 — The Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) has bagged three awards during the Negeri Sembilan New Horizon Innovation and Creative Group convention, which ran from March 29 to 31.

The Selangor state library, represented by Easy.Go, had won three categories, namely Project Improvement, Special Group Jury Award and Best Performance for the presentation of the BooksFlys2U service.

PPAS director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad in a statement said a total of 15 groups representing public libraries and academic libraries of higher learning institutions had participated in the convention, which was held at the Royale Chulan Hotel in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

“The convention was part of the effort to improve the quality and productivity of the departments, which could help in introducing more efficient new work procedures,” she said.

PPAS took home RM4,500 cash prize and certificates and plaques that were presented by Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

The BooksFly2U programme was launched on July 16, 2020, which allows borrowers to lend books by ordering via phone to curb the spread of Covid-19 at public places.

The service is available every day from 9am to 5pm, except on public holidays, and orders can be placed via Whatsapp at 010-8491488 or call 03-55197667.

Going by the concept of ‘Borrow a book as easy as 1,2,3’, the library staff would then arrange for the books to be delivered within two days via e-hailing service. The delivery cost is charged to the borrower.
