SHAH ALAM, March 31 — Several unauthorised structures built on government-owned land in Taman Perindustrian Pandamaran, Klang was torn down in an integrated operation yesterday.

Klang District Officer Mohd Faizal Abdul Raji said the demolition included perimeter fences, lorry depots, workshops and two toilets which were built by a temple committee and

goat pen operator.

He added a part of the workshop structure and a storage building to contain goat feed were voluntarily demolished by the owner.

"We received a complaint from the Irrigation and Drainage Department on trespassing activities related to government land on river reserves and open space at the location.

"The structure was an obstacle to river maintenance work by the department. The demolition and cleaning of the river reserve area will enable it to maintain the river," Mohd Faizal said in a statement.

He said a notice of trespassing government land per Section 425 of the National Land Code was issued to the structure's owner on July 1, 2021.

Mohd Faizal said the owner was given a three-month period to vacate the site voluntarily, but the duration has since passed.

"However the temple association applied once more for the evacuation period to be extended, to which we agreed and gave a 14-day extension.

"The goat pen operator was given the same time period to enable them to move their livestock to a new location on Carey Island," he said.

Both parties signed a documented promise to heed the order to vacate the area within a two-week period.
