KUALA LANGAT, March 6 — The state government launched the Selangor Xtiv Virtual Tour 2022 to foster closer ties with the youths and search for e-sports talents.
State executive councillor for young generation development Mohd Khairuddin Othman said youths are a vital asset to whom careful attention should be paid via all kinds of sports and development activities.
"This programme is the first for youths and must be continued as they have not had such activities since the movement control order began.
"Through this tour, many programmes can be organised to cultivate youth talent, including silat and several e-sports competitions. InsyaAllah after this the tour will be brought to other districts," he said.
Mohd Khairuddin was speaking at the officiation and launch of the Selangor Xtiv Virtual Tour 2022 at Dataran Morib yesterday, which was also attended by Morib assemblyman Hasnul Baharuddin.
He added the authorities are satisfied with the tour's inaugural organisation but felt it could be further improved with the participation of more quarters, such as associations representing e-sports, motorcycling, and beyblade.
"For example, when we open beyblade, we need modules on how to recruit fans of the sport, so they can join bigger competitions," Mohd Khairuddin said.
Selangor introduced e-sports programmes in line with new trends, via the Xtiv Virtual programme in 2020, with over 250,631 participants and 18 million viewers on social media platforms.
The competitions organised include for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Mobile Legends Bang Bang, Call of Duty Mobile, Pro Evolution Soccer 2021, FIFA Pro Club, the Selangor Xtiv Ride and the Selangor Xtiv Virtual Jump Rope Challenge.
Selangor is the only state to successfully organise virtual sports competitions on a large scale, complete with prizes.
