SHAH ALAM, 26 FEB: The Shah Alam Modern Art (Sama) Gallery is expected to be opened to the public next year.
State executive councillor for culture and heritage Borhan Aman Shah said the state government has approved its establishment and is now in the process of purchasing a building to house it.
“Insya Allah (God willing) the process will be completed this year and we will renovate the building with a design suitable for the gallery.
"We expect the gallery to be opened to the public at the very latest in 2023," he said after attending the certificate presentation ceremony for Selangor Traditional Village Entrepreneur Development Programme here today.
On November 26 last year during the tabling of the 2022 Selangor Budget, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that the state government would set up Sama.
He said the state government has agreed to buy a building owned by Bank Negara in Shah Alam for RM33.4 million to be used as a gallery to display artwork as well as a centre for cultural activities.
