SHAH ALAM, Feb 2 — Several aid initiatives implemented by Selangor state assemblymen has helped spread the Chinese New Year cheer to the Tiong Hua community in their constituencies.

Bukit Melawati state assemblyman Juwairiya Zulkifli had distributed mandarin oranges to the Chinese community around Sasaran Sungai Buloh in conjunction with the festive season.

She also handed out food baskets to residents in Kampung Bagan near Tanjung Keramat.

Meanwhile, Taman Templer state assemblyman Mohd Sany Hamzan gave out RM100 ang pows and food packets to 30 individuals of different backgrounds.

It was done with collaboration from Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Amal Wanita Selangor (Pekawanis) to bring cheer to the needy.

Port Klang state assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri distributed Jom Shopping CNY vouchers worth RM100 each to 350 residents from the low-income group (B40), persons with disabilities (OKU), senior citizens and single mothers.

“It is hoped that this aid will help ease their burden in making preparations to celebrate Chinese New Year this year,” he said.

Permatang state assemblyman Rozana Zainal Abidin collaborated with Kampung Bagan Pasir Penambang Community Management Council and gave out mandarin oranges in the constituency.

She handed the oranges to traders and customers at the seafood restaurants around Pasir Penambang four days before the CNY celebration.
