SHAH ALAM, Jan 27 — Some 75 derelict and damaged vehicles in areas under the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) have been towed to its depots, from January 4 until yesterday.

MPKj president Najmuddin Jemain said the towing was done by Car Medic Sdn Bhd, and focused in the areas around Kajang and Semenyih.

"Up to five tow trucks were used to ensure the operations to remove derelict or stranded vehicles went smoothly.

"The operator Car Medic also used tadano cranes to move various types of vehicles, which were abandoned by repair workshop operators in Bandar Rinching," he said during the council meeting yesterday.

On November 22 last year, Najmuddin said MPKj is the first local authority in Malaysia to conduct the recycling of vehicles in an environmentally-friendly manner.

He added the End Live Vehicle (ELV) method was used to overcome the excess of derelict vehicles in the district.

By cooperating with Car Medic Sdn Bhd, the cars are towed to the storage depots in Bandar Baru Bangi, before being brought to the company's depot for the ELV process.
