SHAH ALAM, Jan 19 — The renovation of premises without prior permission is one of the reasons why business license applications were rejected by the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) throughout last year.

These premises include traditional massage centres, industrial centres, food outlets, and barber shops, said its public relations officer Kamarul Izlan Sulaiman.

"They were also found to have made applications for one type of business, but instead operated another type," he said in a statement today.

Kamarul added that MPKj also issued out 300 warning notices and application rejection letters, as well as 135 compounds for those operating without licenses or operating after their licenses expired.

He warned of stern action against offenders, which include seizing their premises if they fail to adhere to MPKj's instructions.

"In these notices, the authorities list down the reasons as to why a license application is rejected, and other matters which applications must take into consideration for an application to be approved," Kamarul said.
