SHAH ALAM, Jan 17 — Hiking tourism activities in Selangor's permanent forest reserves (HSK) will be allowed to resume, after the prohibition period expires on January 31.

Sinar Harian reported state executive councillor for tourism, environment, green technology, and Orang Asli affairs chairman Hee Loy Sian as saying the public may resume their activities on February 1.

"The prohibition on hiking activities will expire on January 31, and hiking can commence again on February 1," he said when contacted earlier today.

Hee was responding to queries by hiking devotees and sports organisers, who seek to continue their activities since the weather is improving.

On December 31 last year, the Selangor State Forestry Department announced that any hiking activities in the state's HSKs would not be allowed, starting on January 1.

In a Facebook post, its director Datuk Ahmad Fadzil Abd Majid said hiking tourism activities would remain closed off until January 31.
