SHAH ALAM, Dec 22 — A joint effort by local councils and KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) has resulted in approximately 1,073 tonnes of flood waste being collected from flood-stricken areas in Selangor, as of December 21.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said to accomplish this, 457 roll-on-roll-of bins and 25 backhoe trucks were used in the cleaning process.
“1,457 workers from KDEBWM and the local councils were involved in the operation to help flood victims clear their damaged homes.
“The state government will intensify its efforts during the cleaning process, to help those affected by the flooding,” he said on Twitter today.
Yesterday, KDEBWM in a joint statement with State Committee on Post-Flood Cleanup chairman Ng Sze Han said the company will mobilise nearly all of its assets and manpower for the post-flood cleanup operation in the flooded areas, which include Klang, Shah Alam, Sepang and Kuala Langat.
Its director Ramli Mohd Tahir said KDEBWM aims to complete the operation by December 24, ahead of the one-month period provided by the state government.
