Selangor Advance brings hopeful recovery for SMEs — MB

By Alang Bendahara

SHAH ALAM, Nov 27 — The Selangor Advance initiative will be strengthened in 2022 to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) restore their cash flow and ensure the sustainability of the state economy.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari told the State Legislative Assembly that a RM300 million loan would be channelled into the programme, including allocations from the state government, subsidiaries, and local councils.

“The estimated amount that could finance small and medium industries is up to RM1 billion for the year 2022 to 2023, and save 150,000 jobs and 5,000 SMEs from being forced to layoff and closures,” he said during the tabling of the 2022 Selangor Budget here, today.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said the Selangor Platform (Plats) and Selangor Digital Partner (Rakan Digital) initiatives will see an additional allocation of RM6 million next year from Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad.

“Both Plats and Selangor Digital Partner initiatives would be intensified to help micro-SMEs and SMEs adapt to digitalising their businesses,” he said.

Plats is the main directory for small traders in Selangor and a free promotional platform provided by the state government to ensure business continuity in the era of digitalisation.
