SHAH ALAM, Nov 12 — The Federal government has allocated RM455 million for long-term action plans to address flooding issues in Selangor.

State executive councillor for infrastructure Izham Hashim said the allocation will ensure the Selangor state government will strive to minimise flood incidents at 50 hotspots in nine districts across the state.

“We have also applied for an allocation amounting to RM1.35 billion from the Federal government under the 12th Malaysia Plan for flood mitigation projects (RTB),” he said during a press conference at the Selangor State Secretariat Building earlier today.

Izham added that an RM250 million allocation for the state’s development has also been approved to address flood issues in Selangor under the short-term and long-term plans.

Five flood mitigation projects which need total improvements include:

  1. RTB Sungai Kapar Kecil and Sungai Kapar in Klang
  2. RTB Sungai Langat Phase 2 in Sepang, Hulu Langat and Kuala Langat
  3. RTB Sungai Buloh Phase 2 in Petaling and Kuala Selangor
  4. RTB Anak Sungai Udang Phase 2 in Selayang and Gombak
  5. RTB Sungai Kundang in Bandar Baru Kundang, Rawang
