SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 — The Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) has advised the public, especially residents of the district, to not visit beach holiday zones throughout the high-tide phenomenon and northeastern monsoon transition period, which begins in early November.
Its president Datuk Amirul Azizan Bin Abd Rahim said the phenomenon is expected to run from November 3 to November 7, and the council will mobilise its personnel to monitor and conduct enforcement in the affected areas.
"Among the areas where water overflow is expected include Pantai Kelanang, Pantai Baru Morib, Pantai Morib, Taman Harmoni Morib, Istana Bahagia Morib, Pantai Batu Laut, Pantai Chunang, and Jeti Tanjung Sepat.
"Therefore MPKL will close off these beach holiday zones and its public amenities, including the food court and kiosks at Pantai Kelanang, Pantai Morib, Pantai Batu Laut, Pantai Chunang, and Jeti Tanjung Sepat," he said in a statement.
Amirul advised the public that in the event of heavy rainfall concurrent with strong winds and large tides, the risk of a flood occurring increases considerably.
He said members of the public who live along the shoreline should keep all important documents in a safe and easily accessible place, so that it can be retrieved should that happen.
"The public, particularly district residents, are requested to not engage in any form of water, recreation and pleasure activities on these days, as all beach holiday zones will be fully closed," Amirul said.
