Civil servants recalcitrant over vaccination to face disciplinary action — MB

SHAH ALAM, Oct 7 — Selangor’s civil servants who deliberately refuse to be vaccinated without valid reasons will face disciplinary action, said Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Menteri Besar said the decision was made after the state government received advice from the legal advisor, and the matter would be discussed during the State Executive Council meeting next week.

He added that the actions which would be enforced by the disciplinary committee include warnings, salary deduction, and termination of work.

“Those exempted from disciplinary actions include those with clinical reasons, health issues, or advice from medical experts,” Amirudin said during a press conference earlier today.

On September 22 the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah expressed his disappointment that 96 individuals, of whom were Kafa teachers, mosque committee members and marriage solemnisers, had rejected the vaccine.

His Highness was also disappointed when only 203 out of the 873 individuals scheduled for inoculation turned up at the special Covid-19 vaccination programme for the Selangor Islamic Religious Department.

The Sultan will go through the names of those individuals who do not want to be vaccinated, and determine what actions will be taken against them.
