Quarry activities at Bukit Mahkota Cheras have council’s approval

SHAH ALAM, Sept 14 — The land use activity currently taking place at Bukit Mahkota Cheras is legal as it has been approved by the local council and has obtained a permit.

Dusun Tua state assemblyman Edry Faizal Eddy Yusof said checks were also made on the quarry activities there and it was found that the activities are being carried out on privately-owned land.

“We all love forests, however, not all wooded areas are forests in the legal sense.

“Some of them are private land, subject to its own rules,” he said on Twitter, yesterday.

The explanation comes following a query from Twitter user @asyraf_wahaB747 on the legal status of the activities at the said location.

The user also uploaded a photo of the area in question.

Three days ago, in a separate post, Edry had also reminded the owner of the land to get the approval of the local council before proceeding with its work even though it is on private land.

“We always encounter such problems (no approval for land activity) in Hulu Langat.

“Even though it is private land, the owner should get the approval first. Do not simply do any earthworks,” he said.
