SHAH ALAM, July 7 — A total of 9,007 residents at Mentari Court in PJS 8, Petaling Jaya, have undergone the Covid-19 screening, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
The Menteri Besar said the next move was to inoculate 1,553 residents to ensure that the area would not be placed under another round of enhanced movement control order (EMCO) as well as to stop the outbreak within the community.
“Two days ago, I visited the area to oversee the enforced EMCO and it was a very challenging process as it involved preparation of distributing basic necessities to almost 17,000 residents.
“Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), all residents have been screened and we are now moving on to the next phase which is vaccine distribution,” he said on Facebook yesterday.
Amirudin said the residents at the high-rise residential area were the first in the country to receive their vaccines after being placed under the EMCO since July 1.
“We hope the process can be implemented in other areas depending on the situation,” he said.
Amirudin had also thanked all parties involved in the implementation of the EMCO, both from the Federal government and state agencies.
Two days ago, a total of 1,553 residents at Mentari Court had received the Pfizer vaccine in the EMCO area after over 500 Covid-19 cases were detected.
