Overseas-bound students reaching age of 18 can be vaccinated — Khairy

PUTRAJAYA, July 5 — The Covid-19 vaccine can be given to overseas-bound students who have reached the age of 18 this year, subject to parents’ permission, Coordinating Minister of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) Khairy Jamaluddin said.

“Their parents or guardians will be required to sign the consent form for this purpose,” he told a joint press conference on PICK development with Health Minister Dr Adham Baba here today.

Prior to this, Khairy had said that overseas-bound students can register for early vaccination on the MySejahtera app and that a new feature had been introduced under the ‘Helpdesk’ in the app to ease the application for vaccination for the group.

He said a total of 8,615 vaccination appointment dates for those early applications received from the overseas-bound students had been set so far.

Meanwhile, he said another 21 vaccination centres (PPVs) began operations today with a capacity of up to 5,000 jabs per day.

Among the PPVs are at Sekolah Menengah Tengku Ampuan Afzan in Chenor, Pahang; Movenpick Hotel & Convention Centre KLIA in Sepang and Kuala Langat Municipal Council Sports Complex in Selangor.
