MB: A full MCO is meaningless if many companies continue to operate

KUALA SELANGOR, June 6 — The Full Movement Control Order (FMCO) currently in force to curb the spread of Covid-19, is useless if many companies are allowed to operate.

Therefore, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari urged the government to re-evaluate the approval given to the companies as it would invite a far worse situation apart from collapsing the country's health service system.

“This term (FMCO) actually does not exist at all and is isolated from reality because they (the government) allowed many institutions and organisations to move which eventually causes confusions.

"This matter needs to be rectified so as not to pose a threat to the security and the health system. The usage of beds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is at more than 100 per cent, of course, the hospital cannot cope if this activity continues,” he said after inspecting the free Covid-19 community screening at MDKS Hall in Bandar Baru Kuala Selangor here today.

Also present were Kuala Selangor MP who is also the Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and Bukit Malawati state assemblyman Juwairiya Zulkifli.

The government announced the first phase of the full lockdown of the social and economic sector nationwide for 14 days from June 1 to 14 after taking into account the daily number of cases that exceeded 8,000.

During that period, all sectors were not allowed to operate except the economic and essential services sectors listed by the National Security Council (NSC).
