KDEBWM aims 100 tonnes of recyclable waste collected monthly in Subang Jaya

PUCHONG, March 30 — KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) has targeted the collection volume of recyclable waste in Subang Jaya to reach 100 tonnes a month.

Its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said the agency is certain that the volume is achievable as residents in the area possess a high level of awareness towards recycling campaigns.

“Within a span of five months since November last year, a total of 360 tonnes of recycled waste were collected using between 13 and 18 lorries a day.

“I am sure the volume can be increased if the number of lorries was added to around 30 to 40 units a day. At present, waste collection is done every day around the commercial and industrial areas while residential areas are three days a week,” said Ramli during a press conference at the launching ceremony of the KDEBWM Recycling Centre in Bandar Bukit Puchong, here, yesterday

The event was officiated by state executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han.

Also present were MBSJ mayor Noraini Roslan and Seri Setia state assemblyman Halimey Abu Bakar.

Meanwhile, Ramli said he is ready to cooperate with all the local councils in the state to set up recycling centres on a large scale.

“Once the centre is built, it will reduce illegal garbage dumping and create a healthier and more comfortable environment once and for all,” he said.
