PUCHONG, March 29 — KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) has transformed an illegal landfill at Jalan BP 4/1 in Bandar Bukit Puchong, here, into a recycling centre.

Its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said the 1.8 hectare centre, which started operation in October last year, was built to reduce the amount of rubbish sent to landfills.

“The construction of this recycling centre is hoped to reduce illegal dumping as well as educate the community on the importance of recycling.

"Among the garbage that can be recycled at this centre includes paper, plastic, aluminium and electronic parts that will be compressed before being sold," said Ramli at a press conference during the opening ceremony of the recycling centre.

The event was officiated by state executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han.

Also present were Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) mayor Noraini Roslan and Seri Setia assemblyman Halimey Abu Bakar.

The recycling centre in Bandar Bukit Puchong is the second centre to be opened by the state agency. Its first recycling centre is located at Jalan Korporat in Meru, Klang.
