KLANG, March 28 — The Selangor government is spending RM300,000 to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at 30 low-cost flats.

State executive councillor for housing and urban wellbeing

Rodziah Ismail said it is part of the allocation received from the Peduli Rakyat Initiative (IPR) totalling RM10.5 million through the Ceria Scheme.

“The state has allocated RM10,000 for each low-cost strata apartment which is already being channelled in stages.

“Usually it involves the installation of between 12 and 16 units of CCTV cameras at the main entrance and lift areas,” said Rodziah.

She said this after launching the ‘Pick & Pay’ programme at the Selangor State Strata Green Site at Pangsapuri Sri Ayu, Bandar Putera here, yesterday.

Rodziah said the CCTV cameras initiative was implemented following complaints of crimes from the joint management bodies (JMB) and management corporations (MC) of the apartments concerned since last year.

“The selection of apartments eligible to have the CCTV cameras installed are made based on the locations of the housing in the received applications.

“It is installed in areas that have crime cases in the hope that the rate can be reduced,” she said.
