SHAH ALAM, March 8 — The Selangor government has no plans to have more quarantine transit centres following the drop in daily Covid-19 cases in the state.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state currently has two centres involving the Nestle Quarantine Transit Station in Shah Alam and the Malaysian Islamic Training Institute (ILIM) in Bangi.

“Initially, we wanted to open up more (centres) but now there is no need for it since the cases have reduced,” Amirudin said after launching the state-level International Women’s Day celebration here today.

He explained that the Nestle transit station at the Pegasus Hotel here has 100 rooms designated for the purpose while ILIM accommodates health workers.

Previously, the Selangor government had planned to set up the centre in four districts that recorded the highest daily Covid-19 cases namely Petaling, Klang, Sepang and Hulu Langat.

The facility serves to support infected individuals or those who were anticipating their Covid-19 test results to undergo temporary quarantine in better comfort.
