SHAH ALAM, March 4 — The state government will hold a tour series of the Rentak Selangor programme featuring a variety of arts and cultural performances by the community.
Aside from introducing hereditary traditions, state councillor for culture and heritage Borhan Aman Shah said the programme would revitalise the tourism sector after the movement control order period.
He explained the tour will also feature villages or districts that have art and cultural sites for the younger generation to experience.
"For example, there is a Kuda Kepang’ group in Sabak Bernam, so we want tourists to go there to enjoy the food or scenery while watching the art performances," he told SelangorKini.
He said Selangor is rich with various ethnicities and cultures as many artists had made the state a centre for their arts activities since a long time ago.
Rentak Selangor was introduced in 2016 to revitalise art, culture and heritage by providing a platform for performances.
It also provides space for cultural heritage figures and cultural arts artists from various communities in Selangor to share their knowledge.
The programme was organised virtually for the first time on March 1 and feature 10 types of performances including pooja dance, gambus and cempuling music as well as horse dance (tarian kuda).
