MPK: Klang morning markets reopen today

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, Feb 1 — The morning markets under the purview of the Klang Municipal Council (MPK), which were closed following the increase in Covid-19 cases, have reopened today.

Its Corporate Communication director Norfiza Mahfiz said the markets are now operating from 6am to 11am in accordance with the council’s ruling.

“The morning market at Eng Ann, Lorong Sungai Puloh 13, Klang Utama; at Lorong Sepat, Teluk Pulai and at Jalan Batu Nilam 27, Bukit Tinggi start its operations today.

"Three more daily markets in Jalan Papan, Taman Chi Liung and Taman Chi Liung apartment will start their operations on Wednesday," said Norfiza to SelangorKini.

She said all traders must install a translucent screen curtain on the left and right side of their stalls to reduce risk of Covid-19 infection.

“They also need to provide a thermometer to screen the visitors. This to train traders to practise self-discipline in addition to several other conditions,” she said.

Starting January 18, the Selangor government had allowed morning markets to operate from 6am to 12 noon during the movement control order (MCO) period.

However, the management and control methods of each market differ based on the respective local authority.
