SHAH ALAM, Dec 16 — The issues concerning cleanliness and the safety of the residents staying near the Top Glove factory workers’ dormitory in Meru, Klang, are now the main focus of the constituent’s representative.

Meru state assemblyman Mohd Fakhrulrazi Mokhtar said the residents are worried about the increasing number of foreign traders in the area which is turning it into a local version of ‘Dhaka’ in Bangladesh.

“I am sure if the area is cleaned up and the illegal traders are removed, the residents will feel more comfortable. I will try to fulfil their requests,” he said when contacted.

Meanwhile, Mohd Fakhrulrazi said the glove-making company management has agreed to transfer its workers in stages to its new dormitories in Meru and Sepang.

“We also requested them to be mindful about waste management, including taking responsibility for the losses incurred by the residents due to the enforcement of the movement control order,” he said.

The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at the Top Glove dormitory which began on November 17 ended on December 14, following the advice and assessment from the Health Ministry (MOH).
