Cops bust drug trafficking syndicate, seize RM4.7 mln worth of drugs in raids

SHAH ALAM, Nov 19 — Police have busted a drug trafficking syndicate, with a local man as its mastermind, and seized various types of drugs worth RM4.8 million in several raids on Tuesday.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Razarudin Husain said the raids were conducted between 11.40am and 2pm in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Pahang.

"In the raids, six suspects, including a Thai woman, all aged between 34 and 56, were arrested and 96.39 kilogrammes of drugs, including syabu, heroin and Erimin 5 pills, were seized.

"Police also seized six luxury vehicles, jewellery, watches and RM264,000 cash. The overall total of seizure from the three raids is estimated at RM5.6 million,” he told a press conference today that was also attended by Selangor acting Police chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed.

Razarudin said initial investigations revealed that the syndicate had been operating since early this year and obtained its supply from Thailand before sending it to Sabah and Sarawak using courier service.

He said all the suspects have been remanded for seven days from yesterday and the case would be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He urged members of the public to contact the Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department at telephone number 012-2087222 to channel any drug-related information.
