RM200 mln dedicated towards water pollution solution

SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 — A total of RM200 million has been allocated towards solving raw water pollution issues in the state, says the Selangor Menteri Besar.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the project will commence this year and is expected to be completed within 18 months.

“We are certain that the projects will be able to reduce the risk of operational suspension of the Phase 1, 2 and 3 Sungai Selangor and the Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plants (WTP) as well as the Semenyih 1 and 2 WTP,” he said while tabling the Belanjawan Selangor 2021 (2021 Selangor Budget, here today.

The projects include:

- the pilot project for the biological treatment of Sungai Gong’s water quality conservation

- 24-hour surveillance and monitoring of sensitive water source areas via Skuad Pantas

- addition of water quality telemetry systems for early alert of high-risk locations at water intake areas

- raw water pump project from the Hybrid Off River Augmentation Storage (Horas) 600 to Sungai Selangor and Sungai Semenyih.
