SHAH ALAM, Oct 13: Dengue preventive measures must continue in every community even though the country is now entering the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Selangor State Health Department (JKNS) director Dato’ Indera Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman said premise owners are advised to keep the surrounding areas clean aside from eliminating the Aedes mosquitoes’ breeding grounds on a weekly basis.
“Spend only 10 minutes each week to ensure that all unused water containers around the area are removed.
“Permanent water containers must be covered at all times or applied with Abate larvicide (to prevent Aedes mosquito from breeding). Weekly inspection is advisable,” said Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman in a statement.
As of epidemic week 41, which ended on October 10, as many as 39,798 dengue cases have been recorded in the state compared to 57,980 cases in the same period last year.
Petaling recorded the highest figure with 13,868 cases, followed by Hulu Langat (8,391) Klang (6,520), Gombak (5,770) and Sepang (2,239).
