SHAH ALAM, June 1 — The 24 new Covid-19 cases recorded in Labu township yesterday has caused the Sepang district to slip from a yellow zone to a red zone, bringing the total active cases to 64 from 40 recorded infections on Saturday.
An infographic shared by the Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) on Facebook last night showed two out of nine districts in the state are now a red zone, which includes Hulu Langat with 126 active Covid-19 cases.
“The hike in new cases reported at the immigration depot had caused Labu to be a red zone, which automatically makes Sepang a red zone as well.
“New normal practices such as social distancing, good personal hygiene and wearing face masks should be part of our daily routine. That is the most effective precautionary measure at the moment,” the task force said.
The six other districts in the state classified yellow zones are Petaling with 23 active cases, Kuala Langat (20), Gombak (17), Hulu Selangor (16), and Klang and Kuala Selangor with six active cases each.
Sabak Bernam remains a green zone after reporting no Covid-19 cases for four consecutive days.
Yesterday, 31 new cases were registered in Selangor bringing the accumulated figure to 1,909 with 278 active cases.
A total of 1,531 patients in the state have recovered from the virus and the death toll remains at 22.
