SHAH ALAM, May 15 — A total of 700 people have participated in the first phase of the Selangor XTIV Virtual Run 2020 programme, organised by the state Youth Generation Development, Sports and Human Capital Development standing committee since May 1.
State Youth, Sports and Human Capital Development Committee chairman Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the virtual event, which runs until January next year, aims to encourage youths to participate in beneficial activities during the ongoing movement control order (MCO).
"The eight-phase programme targets 16,000 participants and they are required to complete a 10-km run at their homes.
"Participants who complete the challenge will receive a T-shirt, medal and a chance to win the lucky draw, which will be held in each phase.
"The prizes include workout gadgets and smartphones," he said in a statement today.
The first phase of the virtual run, themed #irunathome, will end on May 31 and results will be revealed the following day.
Meanwhile, the second phase of the virtual run will begin on June 1 with the #thankyoufrontliners theme.
Participants can register via ticket2U.com.my or Yezza with a RM30 minimum fee per entry.
