SHAH ALAM, May 8 — The Selangor government welcomes the Federal administration’s decision to reopen the economic sectors under the conditional movement control order (CMCO), but said it was tied down by the short notice.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government needed some time to run through the standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the conditional MCO before it can allow all the sectors in the state to resume operations on May 4.
“We didn’t have enough time (to review the SOPs)... that is why Kedah also had only enforced it today (yesterday) and Kelantan on Friday.
“During the previous Selangor state executive council meeting, we had not presented each and every one (of the sectors) because the SOP is quite lengthy and that is why more time is needed. Discussions with the Prime Minister also gave room for us to adjust based on a particular environment, district and localities,” said Amirudin during a talk show via Skype aired on Astro Awani last night.
On May 3, Selangor had announced it would impose the modified conditional movement control order (MCMCO), which had added in several of its own conditions.
The conditions include banning dine-ins at restaurants and eateries in the state and businesses without premises, such as roadside stalls and food trucks, are only allowed to operate after May 12.
The decision was made following a series of meetings held involving the state Selangor National Security Council, Selangor Covid-19 operation centre, Selangor Covid-19 Task Force, city mayors and local councils.
