SELangkah will help in contact-tracing in residential areas

SHAH ALAM, May 5 — The SELangkah initiative, which was introduced by the state government for Covid-19 contact tracing, can also be used in private residences, says Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Menteri Besar said SELangkah uses an automated concept for a quick and easy registration system for individuals entering any premises in Selangor.

"There's no need for us to use pen or paper and this is the 'new normal'," he wrote on his official Twitter account today.

Amirudin said through the application, visitors and customers would only be required to scan the QR code using their mobile phone and key in their information such as name and phone number.

"This is a safe and simple step. The application (SELangkah) eases movement and ensures the safety for all," he said.

Amirudin said restaurant owners, offices, and businesses could easily obtain the QR codes by registering their address at http://selangkah.my and the code must be visibly displayed at business premises for visitors to scan.

The initiative, as explained by Amirudin, is a registration system to protect business premises, safeguard the customers, and to help the frontliners in the state during the conditional movement control order (CMCO).

The state government, together with local authorities, will manage the login information and it will be activated by public health officials if a Covid-19 case has been detected at a location.
