SHAH ALAM, March 31 — The state government is actively carrying out the disinfection and decontamination exercise at all business and government locations to curb the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak, said Selangor Menteri Besar.

Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the next phase of the operations would include houses of worship in the state including mosques, surau, and temples.

"The decontamination operation carried out by the local authorities (PBTs) is to protect the people visiting the areas from contracting the Covid-19 virus," he said via his official Twitter account today.

On March 28, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had announced that a nationwide disinfection operation will begin from March 30.

The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) had been tasked to implement the process through local authorities, focusing on high-risk areas.

As of yesterday noon, the Hulu Langat district has recorded a total of 258 Covid-19 cases, which is the highest among the 15 red zone areas in Malaysia.

This, followed by Lembah Pantai with 226 cases, Petaling (224), Seremban (118), Johor Bahru (108), Kluang (106), Kuching (81), Kota Bharu (79), Kinta (76),Kepong (75), Klang (70), Titiwangsa (64), Tawau (60), Gombak (59), and Hilir Perak (56).

Areas with more than 40 cases are classified as a red zone, while areas with between 20 and 40 cases are considered an orange zone.
