SHAH ALAM, March 23 — The Selangor government welcomes the RM130 million in allocation announced by the Federal administration to assist all state governments during the Covid-19 crisis.
Its Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the allocation would be used on top of the state administration’s initiative in allocating RM128 million for the state stimulus package, the Selangor Cares Package (Pakej Selangor Prihatin).
On his Twitter account today, Amirudin had also thanked the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for the extra allocation to cushion the economic impact on the people across Malaysia.
"The state government is ready to work together with the Federal administration for the welfare of the people, especially at times of crisis.
"The Federal government’s allocation of RM130 million will be utilised fully for the people of Selangor, on top of the Selangor Cares Package of RM 127.78 million that was recently announced.
"The state government will continuously monitor the current situation and will take next step," he said.
Muhyiddin had today announced the RM130 million funds to all the states across the country to combat the Covid-19 outbreak, irrespective of their political affiliation.
He said the funds can be used to help hawkers and petty traders who are affected by the worsening Covid-19 pandemic.
The allocation to all states was one of the several initiatives agreed by the Economic Action Council in efforts to contain Covid-19 from further escalating in the country.
On March 20, Amirudin revealed the state stimulus package, which had included seven initiatives to help those in Selangor that were affected by the economic impact of the Covid-19 outbreak.
