Supermarkets urged to set limit to ensure enough supply

SHAH ALAM, March 19 — Supermarkets are urged to set a purchasing limit to ensure there are adequate supplies of food and other essentials for all, says the Consumers Association of Subang and Shah Alam Selangor (Cassa).

Its president Dr Jacob George said some people were not able to buy the essential items they need because of those who were panic buying.

"Supermarkets can set stricter rules and set a limit to ensure everyone gets to buy the essential items.

"This plays an important role in helping out the government as well as the people in facing the Covid-10 outbreak," he said when contacted by SelangorKini today.

George had also advised the public to do online shopping instead of going out.

He said this would minimise contact, in line with the movement control order that was enforced yesterday, in efforts to contain the Covid-19 infection.

"Use your phone apps. Online shopping is a lot safer and at the same time, we get to save time. Be a smart and responsible consumer," he said.
